Who are we?
We started The Other You in Timișoara because we needed a place to put the things that don’t fit anywhere else. The restlessness. The questions you ask at 2am. The parts of yourself you’re not sure what to do with.
We play original music — somewhere between prog rock, funk, and soul, though honestly we’ve stopped trying to pin it down. What matters more to us is the feeling: that moment when a song hits you somewhere specific and you think that’s exactly it, I just didn’t have the words.
The name says it all, really. The other you — not the one that shows up to work, answers emails, plays it safe. The other one. The one that surfaces when the city goes quiet and you finally stop performing for everyone else.
That’s who we make music for. And if you’ve ever felt like parts of you are still uncharted territory — welcome. You’re in the right place.

Melly
– Lead singer –
About me
My name is Melania Jurchita, but my artist name is Mely J, a fusion between my names.
When I sing I feel like I am connecting to my true self, the lyrics that I write are mostly about feelings, or at least that’s where I find my inspiration.
Those feeling then I can transpose them into stories or experiences and that is how a song is born.

Iustin
– Guitar –
About me
I’m Iustin Negru, lead guitar player for TOY. At 23, I picked up a guitar for the first time and I fell in love so bad…since then I never stopped loving this instrument.
Music is where I feel free to express myself through lyrics, a riff, a guitar solo or just playing some chords. I love creating new songs with my bandmates.
As musical influences, I’m inspired my progressive rock from 70’s, 80’s rock, blues and some modern pop. I love Pink Floyd, Genesis, GnR, John Mayer, RHCP and others.

Alex

About me
Hello. I’m Alex. I do the drumming. Think of me kinda like Ringo. You need a drummer, and it can’t be someone good. That’s where I come in.
However, I do make up for it with other things, like making the socially anxious and introverted band members feel better thanks to my constant energy and incessant talking.
Musically, I like (and listen to) everything from K-Pop to Hip-Hop and 80s obscure reggae and ska. Good music has no genre.

About me
I encountered music at a very early age, and we’re still trying to figure each other out. The most important thing I’ve learned about music is that it has no language—emotions are enough to understand it. I believe in the unifying power of music. Peace!
